ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF BAPTIST HIGH SCHOOL IRE MAKES A MOVE TO TRANSFORM THE INSTITUTION

The Alumni students of Baptist High School Ire have been urged to make development of their alma mater a top priority in order for the school to rank among the best citadels of learning in Osun State and Nigeria in general.

 The new president, mr Hezekiah Olaniyi Ibiyemi made the call in his inaugural speech after he was sworn in alongside other executive members at the 2022 annual convention of the Baptist High School, Ire Alumni Association,.

Mr Ibiyemi, having appreciated the caretaker committee headed by Dr Sunday Adeniran for paddling the canoe of the association, for the past 6 months, to the shore of success , lauded the outgone excos for their track records In the area of infrastructural development and building intellectual acumen among the students without leaving out sets and individuals who have imparted positively on the students through their various legacy projects and interventions. 

 The president announced the endowment fund which he activated to raise 50 million naira through his personal friends to execute the priority projects of his administration namely: the perimeter fencing and drainage to control the erosion threatening the school’s topography.

 Mr Ibiyemi hinted that 15.5 millions naira had been raised as at the time of filing this report , 1.5 million naira of which came from his personal purse as an initial payment. The new president commended all the contestants in the election that midwifed the new executives especially, his co contestant, Alhaji Tunde Lawal who stepped down for him, making his election unopposed, stressing that the high level of political maturity displayed by others who followed suits to pave the way for other executive members to emerged unopposed is unprecedented.
Early, the chairman, Caretaker committee, Dr Sunday Adeniran enjoined members to shun behaviors that could threaten the strains of unity binding the Baptist High School's family together, noting that the committee had diligently and successfully carried out its statutory obligation which centered on conflict resolution constitution amendment and election of a new Excos. 

 The immediate past president, Engineer Kayode Odebode highlighted the achievements of his tenure to include donation of a new block of classrooms and renovations of the old ones by sets and individuals, corroborating his view the school principal, mrs Yetunde Ogunleye urged the old students not to renege on their achievements but strife to do more to lift their alma mater to an enviable height.

 Contributing via zoom , a member of the CTC, mr Oluranti Ladapo showered encomium of members for their decorum and unalloyed support which resulted in the successful convention, craving the indulgence of all to increase the tempo for rapid transformation of BHSI .
Highlight of the convention was ratification of Dr Sunday Adeniran and mrs Janet Akintola as members of BOT, while Dr Simeon Afolayan was was made the chairman of the BOT following a democratic process

A minutes silence was observed in honor of the late BOT chairman, Moses Olubunmi Ajayi and other members who have passed on.

FIRE GUTS ATAKUMOSA MARKET AGAIN



Goods and property worth millions of naira have been destroyed in a mid night fire incident at Atakumosa central market ilesa, Osun state

The fire outbreak, according to eye witnesses started at the post office section of the market some minutes past 2 o’clock this  morning .

Radio Nigeria correspondent, isaac Haastrup reports that men and officers of  federal and osun state fire service made frantic efforts to  prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the market.

Our man also reports that combined team of  men and officers from Ayeso A’ division and Ijamo B’ division were on ground to prevent looting during the rescue mission, While sop owners and sympathizers were making effort to salvage some goods.

Though the fire was brought under control around 4 o'clock in the morning, an officer of the state fire service who preferred anonymity said  the cause was yet to be ascertained.

Affected most were boutique,   food stuff and provision shops 

Efforts to speak with shop owners as at the time of filing this report were unsuccessful.
