OSUN STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL ATTACKED BY HOODLUMS

Pandemonium yesterday broke out at the premises of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, formerly known as  Lautech teaching hospital as Suspected hoodlums besieged the hospital to forcefully take corpses of their colleageues who were  killed on Tuesday during a fracas from the morgue caused.
According to eye Witness accounts , the  people, arrived the hospital around 9:00am on Wednesday and threatened to forment trouble if the corpses of their colleagues were not released to them throwing the management,  staff and patients into confusion
It was gathered that all efforts  by the hospital to persuade by the hospital management to the people  to follow due process by  involving  security agencies before the release of the corpses hit the brick wall as they insisted neither to pay  nor wait for a police clearance.
It would be recalled that two persons died and another  sustained  injures in the fight which broke out between groups of suspected thugs on Tuesday around  Balogun Agoro Street, Osogbo, during which the residence of the Field Commandant of Amotekun Corps in the state, Amitolu Shittu was vandalized
The aggrieved people alleged that the Amotekun corps chased and shot at them while the corps claimed that the thugs killed themselves during the fracas.
Meanwhile, the hospital management yesterday shut its gates for few minutes to prevent break down of law and order in the hospital as the angry mob was adamant on taking the corpses without payment or security agency’s authorisation.
However, nomalcy has returned to the hospital and its environs when some armed security agents arrived the area and dispersed the hoodlums.
Reacting to the incident the field commandant of the Amotekun corps in Osun, mr, Amitolu Shittu said he received information that some hoodlums invaded the hospital noting they were harrasing doctors and nurses on duty. He however stressed that nomalcy had returned to the hospital.
