• The
founder of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi Foundation; Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi has
demonstrated with his passion for self-help driven development at the grassroots
by putting smiles on the faces of three hundred (300) unemployed people through
a free skill acquisition and vocational training.
Fifty (50) out of the Three Hundred (300) beneficiaries of
the empowerment and vocational training powered by ASIWAJU YINKA FASUYI
FOUNDATION for people of the six local government areas in Ijesaland have
successfully completed their apprenticeship at Obokungbusi
City Hall,
Ilesa.
The vocational training organized by the AYFF in conjunction
with ONE COMMUNITY ONE INDUSTRY INITIATIVE which focus on Agro-preneurship and Skill Aquisition is in fulfilment of the
promise made by the founder of AYFF, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland; Asiwaju Yinka
Fasuyi, during presentation of cheques for WAEC fees to 300 Students from 70
public secondary schools in Ijesaland to the tune of 10 million on the 12th of
December 2020, to sponsor fifty (50) people randomly selected from each of the
six (6) local government areas to learn various vocations. This is paramount as
the surge of unemployment and vulnerability keep expanding the poverty gap in
various societies in the country. The free training spanned across six months
(6 months) from January to June, 2020.
The first batch of the quarterly skill acquisition program
which lasted 5 days at the Ilesa City Hall. had 50 participants drawn from
Ilesa West Local Government Area in attendance to learn snail farming, black soap making, locus beans, coconut oil, gari, fufu
and ogi, animal feed processing, conversion of agro west to wealth as well as
branding of products for souvenirs.
The next point of call was Ilesa East where 50 residents
of the area were expected to have their round of training between 10th and 14th
of February, 2021 which was graciously offered by Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi
Foundation.
In a remark, the coordinator, Mr Yinka Aworele who spoke
on behalf of the sponsor Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi and his
wife, Yeye Asiwaju, Chief (Dr) Olubisi Fasuyi for the humanitarian gesture and
urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the opportunity and impart in
other people’s lives by sharing the knowledge garnered during the program with
them. Although, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi was unavoidably absent during the closing
ceremony of the five (5) day- vocational training for people of Ilesa west, the
unimaginable impacts of this benevolence would continue to spiral in the minds
of all the beneficiaries.
A
beneficiary, Mr E. O. Oladiti expressed gratitude to Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi
Foundation for deeming it fit to touch lives of the ijesas, saying the program
will have an appreciable impact on
social wellbeing of Ijesa people in no distance future as many of them
have learnt to be self reliant and shift attention from looking for salaried
jobs.
Another
beneficiary, Miss Florence Dagunduro gave accolades to Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi for
redefining their future through the program as many of them who were clueless
before the training can now see a ray of
light in the tunnel of life, stressing that if the affluent in the society can
toil the path of the founder of AYFF the country will be a better place for all
In rounding-off the edition of the empowerment programme,
it was clearly emphasized by Mrs. Oluwaseun Victoria (CEO, One Community One Industry) that the various beneficiaries
from the six local government areas were randomly selected without any
preferential consideration. As investigated by Tumexhaastrup Media Consultant, the total value of the program was
valued at about 5 million naira (N5M).
• At
the heart of COVID-19 pandemic, many people became vulnerable and means of
livelihood for many were shattered without hope of survival. Asiwaju Yinka
Fasuyi through the Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi Foundation (AYFF) made Provision of both Money and Foodstuffs
as COVID-19 Palliatives to Three Hundred
and Eight (308) Households in the neighbourhood of Adebayo Abon Community, Omi-Asoro, Ilesa between April and May
2020. This heart of concern and generosity has lifted the spirit of many of
those affected by the pandemic to cushion the debilitating effects. The
responses from Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi during those times to support each of the
308 Households seemed timely and a divine intervention. Many got this with
tears of joy and others with profound gratitude to the Almighty who has blessed
Ijesaland with such a heart of gold at such a time as this.

● Riots broke out in Ilesa which extended to other
communities in Ijesaland on Monday, 18th March, 2019.
In the course of the crisis, all the major power stations and
plants responsible for distributing electricity to the entire Ijesaland were
badly vandalized with the resultant power outage in the entire land.
That same day, this was reported, Asiwaju moved straight to
the IBEDC Headquarters in Ibadan to seek audience with the IBEDC Management
which was
Reluctantly granted.
Asiwaju impressed it on the IBEDC Management the implications
of prolonged outage to the socioeconomic activities of Ijesaland which remans
the economic hub of Osun State.
Asiwaju was visiting IBEDC almost on a daily basis to further
the peaceful resolution of the imbroglio as IBEDC had formally closed all its
offices and operations in Ijesaland immediately after the riots.
Along the line, Asiwaju brought in the then Assistant
Inspector General of Police, Zone II, AIG Leye Oyebade to the meeting with
IBEDC.
The security cover provided by the AIG enabled Asiwaju and
the IBEDC Technical Team to visit Ilesa on Tuesday, 26th March, 2019 to inspect
and evaluate the level of damages to the IBEDC Tools, Power Stations,
Equipment, and Offices.
At the end of the visit, a damage claim in the sum of N245,000,000
(Two Hundred and Forty-Five Million Naira) was slammed on Ijesaland to effect
all the damages.
Asiwaju resumed another series of meetings with the IBEDC
Management with a view to beseeching IBEDC to effect the repairs to ensure that
electricity was restored to
Ijesaland.
At a point when IBEDC became adamant, Asiwaju wrote His
Excellency, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Thursday, 4th of April, 2019 to
please kindly intervene as the power outage was becoming too prolong and
absolutely unbearable for Ijesaland community.
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Mr.
Adegboyega Oyetola heeded this plea and on Wednesday, 10th April, 2019 summoned
a tripartite meeting of the State Government, IBEDC, and Ijesaland
Community.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi with
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Wednesday, 10th April 2019 to resolve
IBEDC/Ijesaland issues. Same meeting was used by Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi to
privately open discussion on the College Upgrade to a University.
The Executive Governor led the State Team which also included
the Deputy Governor; The Right
Honourable Speaker of the State of Assembly; Secretary to the State
Government; Chief of Staff; Head of Service; amongst others.
The IBEDC team was led by Chief Sunday Oduntan. Others were
Engr Akin Abiodun, Mrs Jumoke Olukosi, and Capt Gbenga Ajagbe.

MEETING WITH THE TOP
MANAGEMENT OF IBEDC: Seating from left to right are IBEDC Chief Financial
Officer, Ms
Ronke Owotomo; Chief
Operating Officer/Deputy Managing Director, Engr John Ayodele; Asiwaju Yinka
Fasuyi; and the Chief Assets Protection Officer, Capt Gbenga Ajagbe.
The Ijesaland Community was led by His Imperial Majesty, Owa
Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle
Aromolaran II, CFR, LL.D.
Other members in the Team were Elegboro of Ijebu-jesa, His
Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye; the Asiwaju of Ijesaland,
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi; Dr Adigun Adewoye; and Engr Bode Agboola.
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Mr.
Adegboyega Oyetola eloquently laid bare before the audience the poor financial
status of the State Government.
It was
obvious to all especially the IBEDC Team that the State Government was not in
the position to bail out Ijesaland from the N245M IBEDC financial
claim. After much pleading and persuasion, the IBEDC Team promised to go back
and prevail on the other Management team to reconsider its stand.
Fourteen days after the meeting with the Governor, Asiwaju
led a team of six to meet with the Management of IBEDC to proactively thank
them ahead of the promised restoration of electricity in Ijesaland.
The visit made on Wednesday, 24th April 2019 led by Asiwaju
Yinka Fasuyi also had in attendance late Engr Biodun Ajifowobaje; Prof Ademola
Ariyo; Hon. Lawrence Ayeni; Hon. Fafowora; and Dr Adigun Adewoye.
On Monday, 29th April 2019 the first set of IBEDC personnel
returned to Ijesaland and one week after this, the technical crew resumed work
in Ijesaland.Alas, despite the concerted efforts, the month of April 2019 ended
without electricity in Ijesaland.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi
leading the AIG Adeleye Oyebade and his team to a meeting with the top
management of IBEDC in Ibadan on
Wednesday 20th March, 2019.
Asiwaju had earlier learned that the minimum power outage
meted on communities with such riots and vandalism was FIVE YEARS and, in some
cases, far more than that to serve as deterrent to others.
Asiwaju resumed personal talk with the IBEDC Management
especially the Chief Operating Officer, Engr John Ayodele, Asiwaju was able to
leverage on their old relationship in the defunct NEPA.
To the glory of Almighty God, electricity was finally
restored in Ijesaland at 1.00pm of Friday, 6th of June, 2019.
The electricity outage that would have been witnessed in
Ijesaland as was usually done to communities with similar vandalism experience
was cut short from a minimum of 5 years to 2 months and 20 days from 18th March
to 6th June 2019 courtesy of the dynamic leadership provided by Asiwaju Yinka
Fasuyi.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi led a
Team of Ijesas into meeting with the Top Management of IBEDC in April 2019
“Greatness lies
not in being strong, but in the right using of strength; and strength is not
used rightly when it serves only to carry a man above his fellows for his own
solitary glory. He is the greatest whose strength carries up the most hearts by
the attraction of his own” – Henry Ward Beecher
●Our traditional institutions that symbolize our common
heritage, culture, values, and goals were not sufficiently networking in
building the synergy required to champion and drive sustainable development in
Ijesaland.
With the consent of His Imperial Majesty, Owa Obokun Adimula
and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LL.D, the First Asiwaju of
Ijesaland gallantly proceeded to move round the various Palaces in Ijesaland on
the need to drive Unity and Peace among all communities as a panacea for
achieving steady growth and development in Ijesaland.
At the end of the consultation, the first in the series of
this Unity meeting among all Traditional Rulers in Ijesaland was held in
Ifewara on Wednesday, 23rd January, 2019 where 109 Traditional Rulers were in
attendance.
It is instructive to remark that all attending Royal Fathers
were unanimous in their decision on both the desirability of such meeting and
also serving as a platform to speak with one voice on matters concerning
Ijesaland’s interest under the headship of the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland,
Owa Obokun Adimula.
On a lighter mood, some of our revered Royal Fathers were
having the opportunity of meeting with one another for the first time at that
meeting.
The success of the maiden edition fueled the organization of
the second edition in Ijebu-jesa on Wednesday, 6th of November 2019 where
emerging security challenges and environmental implications of Artisanal Miners
were thoroughly interrogated and solutions proffered.
It is heart-warming to observe today the tremendous
improvement in camaraderie among our esteemed Royal Fathers where they now
relate as members of one big family sharing contemporary experiences on
development, security, economy, and social issues.
The improved attendance of our respected Royal Fathers at the
Annual Iwude Ijesa has its roots in the
Unity meeting initiated and facilitated by the First Asiwaju of Ijesaland.
The breakout of COVID-19 pandemic in early year 2020 has
temporarily halted physical meeting but thanks to telecommunication technology
that has encouraged alternative means of networking among our valued Royal
Majesties.
●At his Chieftaincy installation ceremony on Saturday, 22nd
October 2016, witnessed by unprecedented and unparalleled turnout of guests
from all walks of life as remarked at the ceremony by no other person but our
own highly revered Imperial Majesty and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba(Dr)
Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR;
LLD., Kabiyesi was enthused and visibly excited with the attendance. He
challenged the new Asiwaju, Yinka Fasuyi to build a befitting Palace for him.
The seriousness, priority, preference, crucial and preeminent
value Kabiyesi placed on his need for a new and modern Palace was unmistakable
as he did not hide it from the massive audience that, the delivery of a new
Palace is Kabiyesi's most important consideration and prime need and he
designated the First Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi to deliver it
to him and Ijesaland.
To reinforce his uncompromising stance on his demand for a
new Palace from the new Asiwaju, Kabiyesi went further to admonish Asiwaju not
to fall into the pitfalls suffered by the previous attempts to build a new
Palace for him.
By the time the ceremony was over, the First Asiwaju of
Ijesaland knew he had an herculean task ahead of him in his communal journey.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi took this challenge, and deployed his
30-year management consultancy skills to fashion out cutting edge strategies to
employ in accomplishing the task of building a new Palace. Meanwhile, a daunting obstacle before Asiwaju
was how to convince well-meaning Ijesa Sons and Daughters, Societies, Clubs,
and Associations to embark on another series of donations towards building a
new Palace when the previous donation towards same cause was yet to be
accounted for.
A master strategist that Asiwaju is, he put on his longest
Thinking Cap!
“Our generation has the
ability and the responsibility to make our ever-more connected world a more
hopeful, stable and peaceful place.” – Natalie Portman
He knew undoubtedly that to win the trust of the people of
Ijesaland, he had to earn it. Pronto, he started his education empowerment
program through the offering of Bursary Scholarship to 100 Students from Public
Secondary Schools in the six LGAs in Ijesaland in 2017. There was widespread
misconception of his mission in doing this as many political gladiators became
jittery that Asiwaju was merely using the scholarship scheme to prepare his
imminent entrance into the political turf. However, by the time the scheme was
repeated in 2018 with an enhanced figure of 250 Beneficiaries across all
communities in Ijesaland coupled with the absence of campaign posters, 2018
being an election year in Osun State, the credibility of the scholarship scheme
became enhanced and of course the integrity and credibility of the Founder of
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi Foundation (AYFF), the foundation sponsoring the
scholarship catapulted.
The IBEDC/Ijesaland saga of 2019 and the attendant Initiative
and leadership roles of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi in resolving the imbroglio
geometrically shot up Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi as a true selfless leader whose
vision and mission was to serve Ijesaland at no cost to the Ijesa
Communities.
It was this strategically built up profile of credibility,
integrity, uprightness, probity, rectitude, and honour that gave Asiwaju Yinka
Fasuyi the confidence to personally approach His Imperial Majesty, the Owa Obokun
Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LL.D on Saturday, 14th December
2019 with a proposal to build a new Palace and his strategies for accomplishing
this.
Kabiyesi took Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi up on his proposed
strategies for mobilizing Ijesas for funds where he pessimistically asked
Asiwaju " Do you think Ijesas would heed your call for another set of
donations towards a new Palace when they had not seen any feasible result from
the previous donation?"
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi optimistically responded by saying "Kabiyesi it is only God that can answer the question
you raised. But I am trusting in the Almighty God to see me through since it is
a new path I have never treaded. All I want Baba Kabiyesi is your blessing for
me to succeed in this assignment"
Kabiyesi was quick to offer his prayers and wished Asiwaju
Yinka Fasuyi huge success in the herculean task.
The First Asiwaju of Ijesaland left the Palace fulfilled and
within the remaining eight hours of that Saturday, 14th December 2019 put up a
one-on-one personal telephone calls to 29 illustrious Ijesa Sons and Daughters
sharing his vision and mission for the new Palace.
It was as
if all the people called had a premonition of the subject matter and held a
meeting to agree on what their collective responses would be, which was
"Asiwaju, because it is you championing this cause and I believe in your
pedigree of integrity, transparency, and accountability, I shall support you by
participating in this new Owa's Palace Project "
The following day, Sunday 15th December 2019 Asiwaju
organised a maiden meeting in his Ilesa residence where the following
distinguished Ijesa Compatriots were invited from the list of people he had
spoken to the previous day. In selecting the few he had invited he had found
them very worthy to be constituted into the Project Management Team (PMT) which
he immediately constituted at the maiden meeting of Sunday, 15th December 2019.
Those invited were:
1. Chief Akin
Akinola
2. Prince
Lowo Adebiyi
3. Chief
(Mrs) Dupe Ajayi Gbadebo
4. Engr
Busayo Aluko
5. Chief
Afolabi Igbaroola
6. Mr. Diran
Fasuyi

maiden meeting Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi called in respect of the
New Owa's Palace at his
Ilesa residence on Sunday, 15th December 2019
It was at this meeting that Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi presented
the full proposal prepared by him on how to accomplish the goal of building an
ultra-modern Palace for Owa Obokun Adimula of
Ijesaland.
The highlights of the proposal were:
1. No Fundraising Ceremonies
2. No Project Launching
3. Contractors will be competitively
appointed
4. Architects, Structural Engineers, Electrical
Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Quantity Surveyors to be sourced would
offer their respective professional services of designing and supervision free
of charge
5. No provision for Project Cost variations and
Price Fluctuations
6. No money to be expended from the Project
account except monies going to the appointed Contractor
7. All other expenses such survey fees,
Contract Newspaper Advert, Project Secretariat Running, Transportation &
Travels, PRs, Entertainments at Project Meetings are to be fully borne by the
Project Management Team (PMT) 8. Regular rendering of Project account to all
contributing members.
The hallmark of the new Owa's Palace Project
was the uncompromising allegiance to Project Transparency and Accountability
right from when the Project account was opened on the 20th December 2019 till
when it was closed on the 28th February 2020.

to the warmth of community, to the worth of individual effort and
responsibility, and of individuals working together as a community, to better
their lives and their children’s future.” – Robert F. Kennedy
To ensure Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi did not confer on himself
absolute power on the Project, in spite of the fact that he conceived and
initiated the Project, he conceived and enthroned the establishment of an oversight
body, Project Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (PMEC) under the
Indefatigable leadership of Mr Iyiola Faniyi, to provide check and balance over
the Project Management Team that he formed and chaired.
At the signing of the
Contract for the New Palace of Owa Obokun Adimula at the
Ibadan Business School
office of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi on Monday, 4th March 2020.
Despite all these accountability structures, Asiwaju Yinka
Fasuyi ensured that no Kobo of the Project was released without the express
consent of the entire body of contributors through the WhatsApp platform
created for the Project operations.
To the glory of the Almighty God, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi led
Ijesas to build and deliver in a record time of 9-month the most magnificent
Palace in Yorubaland and beyond despite the huge backlash of the raging
Covid19.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi is full of gratitude to revered members
of the Project Management Team
(PMT) namely, Prince Lowo Adebiyi (Vice Chairman); Engr
Busayo Aluko (General Secretary); Chief Afolabi Igbaroola (Treasurer); and
Chief (Mrs) Dupe Ajayi Gbadebo (Legal Adviser) for their respective selfless
service and unforgettable roles and sacrifices in the delivery of the new Owa's
Palace.
“Once something is
memorable, it’s living and you’re using it. That to me is the foundation of a
creative society.”- Yo-

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi was also very proud of the illustrious
roles and commitments of the members of Project Monitoring and Evaluation
Committee (PMEC) comprising of the workaholic, devoted Chairman who came into
the Project as a Mr. but left with an enhanced title of Engr Iyiola Faniyi;
Erelu Olusola Agbeja Obada (Vice Chairman); Engr Yemi Oguntominiyi (General
Secretary); Engr Bola Olowe(Asst. General Secretary); Alh. Lateef Bakare
(Financial Secretary); Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye (Member); and Engr Olusegun
Okebiorun(Member).
Of course, Asiwaju would remain eternally grateful to Baba
Sawe of Ilesa, High Chief Akinwande Akinola for his incredible support and
advise throughout the Project life. As
well as the amazing, incredible, awesome, progressive, illustrious 122 Ijesa
Compatriots on 2020 Owa's Palace Project WhatsApp Platform, you are all
architects of the success of the fifth anniversary of installation of the First
Asiwaju of Ijesaland and may God bless you all mightily for your labour of
sacrifice to Ijesaland. One of our
revered leaders in jesaland , Chief (Sir) Olatunde Aluko among others equally
congratulated everyone who contributed to the success of the Owa's Palace
Project as indicated below,
“I
wholeheartedly congratulate you all, my dear and beloved Ijesa brothers and

illustrious Ijesa sons and daughters out of which N36,000,000 was transferred

PREAMBLE
Everything that has a beginning surely must have an end.
So it is with our collective journey that started about a
year ago and with our mission on the delivery of New Owa's Palace accomplished,
thus brings us to the inevitable terminal point.
Our spirit of "we can" has rekindled the Ijesas'
ageless tradition of championing self development.
My profound gratitude to all the 122 illustrious Ijesa women
and men in this house who have supported this Project morally, financially,
technically, culturally, and spiritually. You all have truly demonstrated your
love and affection for Ijesaland, your fatherland.
May your source of blessing never run dry.
May the good Lord continue to fulfil all your heart desires
May His grace that passes all human understanding avail for
you, your loved ones, and your endeavours, In Jesus Mighty Name.
We are truly and deeply proud of you all.
Obokun a gbe a,

Collectively, we have shown that with trust, commitment,
openness, transparency, and accountability we can achieve a lot together.
Please permit me to specially thank the PMEC Chairman, 'Engr'
Iyiola Faniyi for sacrificing his precious time, and providing enormous support
towards this Project. His painstaking efforts in effectively and efficiently
championing the oversight responsibility of his Committee would forever be
appreciated.
May the Almighty God reward all our revered PMT, PMEC, and
PFCC labour of sacrifice to
Ijesaland.
His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LL.D would be moving to the
Palace on Friday, 12th February 2021 when 97% of the ALL CUSTOMIZED FURNITURES
AND FITTINGS would have been fully delivered and installed.
Our revered members in the 2020 Owa's Palace Project who wish
to visit and appreciate the furnishings and fittings could reach out to the
Chairman of the New Palace Maintenance Committee, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola for
access, as only our members are given that privilege to visit up to Thursday,
11th February 2021.
Similarly, we appreciate our group of Consultants who
volunteered their professional skills and time to deliver this Project at zero
cost. Ijesaland shall forever remain proud of you.
We also extend our gratitude to Chief Timothy Adebanjo Fasuyi
for his donation of 15 art paintings and 5 sculptures to the Palace; and to
Chief Babajide Jaiyeoba for providing the comprehensive insurance policy for
the Palace.
We deeply mourn our beloved compatriots, Prof Femi Odekunle and Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe who departed in the
course of this journey. We are consoled with the fact that they registered
their respective foot mark on the sand of history through their active
participation in this Project. May their departed souls rest in peace.

Finally on the new Owa's Palace, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi remains
everlastingly grateful to the Alpha and Omega, the Jehovah Jireh, the I am that
I am, the Omnipotent, the King of Kings, the Elshadahi, the One Yesterday, the
One Today, and the One Forever for enabling Asiwaju to find favour with God and
everyone who contributed their hard-earned money and services to fulfill the
herculean task of building a new Palace, placed on him at his installation as
Asiwaju on Saturday, 22nd October 2016.
It can only be God! And to him Asiwaju returns glory, and
adoration.
“A true community is
not just about being geographically close to someone or part of the same social
web network. It’s about feeling connected and responsible for what happens.
Humanity is our ultimate community, and everyone plays a crucial role.” – Yehuda

●The
discovery of Crude Oil in Nigeria in 1957 was supposed to be an all-round
blessing to Nigeria.
Currently however, we are all witnesses to both the economic
gains it has attracted to the nation and the attendant environmental
degradation and disaster it has wrecked on the oil producing communities in the
South-South of Nigeria.
Ijesaland as we all know is endowed with variety of solid
minerals amongst which is gold. This huge deposit of best grade of gold
otherwise known as 'sweet gold' has recently turned Ijesaland into a new Mecca
for all sorts of gold scavengers swarming our lands day and night with their
crude Artisanal Mining operations.
The month of April 2020 was full of various life-threatening
stories in the regular media and social media of the different shades of
devastation the illegal miners had visited on our lands in different
communities in Ijesaland. This trend of heart-wrenching stories continued
unabated till the beginning of May 2020.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi kept asking himself of a role he could
play in this unwholesome development, realising that it would be suicidal to
pretend that all was well with the various forms of environmental pollution and
destruction coupled with ignorance of many community leaders and members who
were selling out rightly their God's given treasures to these gold
scavengers.
The situation became unsettling and unbearable to the First
Asiwaju of Ijesaland, very early in the morning of Sunday, 10th of May, 2020,
Asiwaju woke up to think of identifying Ijesas with relevant background in
mining and environmental management with a view to mobilising them to form a
body which would enlighten our various
communities in Ijesaland on the dangers and consequences of the ongoing mining
practices in Ijesaland with a view to provide them with alternative safe and
environmentally friendly Mining Practices.
By 10am of that same Sunday, 10th May, 2020 Asiwaju Yinka
Fasuyi had contacted the following distinguished multi-disciplinary professionals
that were required and assembled to frontally address the menace of mining
related environmental degradation in Ijesaland : 1. Mr. Supo Shadiya: Former Deputy Managing Director With Chevron
Oil Company

The greatest experience in telepathy played out with Asiwaju
Yinka Fasuyi when at 2pm of the same Sunday, 10th May, 2020 the Kabiyesi, His
Imperial Majesty, the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland put a
telephone call across to Asiwaju and asking him why Asiwaju had not deem it fit
to respond to the embarrassingly increasing menace of Mining Scavengers in
Ijesaland.
Fortunately, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi was able to provide
feedback to his Imperial Majesty of the initiative he took earlier the same day
and reeled out the names of relevant accomplished Ijesas and Nigerians that he
had invited and assembled to join him in the salvage mission.
This initiative of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi led to the
establishment of Ijesa Mineral Resources Development Forum (IMRDF). The forum
created its WhatsApp platform to bring and introduce all members to one another
along with the sharing of the IMRDF'S vision and mission on Friday, 15th May,
2020.
The maiden meeting of IMRDF under the Chairmanship of Asiwaju
Yinka Fasuyi was held on Sunday, 17th May, 2020 through Virtual/Zoom. A weekly
business meeting became the order of the day for IMRDF.
It is on record that IMRDF had embarked on series of
aggressive Enlightenment, Awareness Advocacy; and Environmental Protection
Management Education to all the six LGAs in Ijesaland with attendance
comprising of all the Traditional Rulers, Political Leaders, Community Leaders;
Religious Leaders; Professional Groups; Women Leaders; and Youth Groups in all
the communities in Ijesaland.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi
leading Ijesa Mineral Resources Development Forum (IMRDF) sensitisation
campaign on safe Mining Practices to
Political Leaders in Ijesaland
Incidents of outright sales of land to miners have
drastically reduced; use of environmentally harmful mining chemicals has
reduced; community participation and engagement in mining activities have
improved.
It is also on record that the IMRDF through engagement of
Thor Exploration Ltd (the owner of a majorlarge-Scale Mining company in
Nigeria, Segilola Mining License operating in Iperindo, OdoIjesa, and Mogbara)
has significantly improved the employment of many Ijesas in its
operations.
IMRDF has been in the frontline of also engaging both the
State Government of Osun and Federal Government in ensuring that Ijesaland is
fairly, justifiably treated and accommodated from the resources accruing to
both governments from Mineral and Mining exploration in Ijesaland.
The IMRDF has also formally met with the Osun State
Government to press for the issuance of a Mining License from its stock to the
entire people of Ijesaland in order to make Ijesas key players in the Mining
sector that it has pleased Almighty God to endow Ijesaland with.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi at the
Osun State Governor's Office leading IMRDF
to make a case for Environmental Mining Protection for Ijesaland in
August 2020.
Though it is not yet Uhuru but the IMRDF fights on for
Ijesaland.
●This next baby and intervention of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi is
the most distracting, disturbing, distorting, and discouraging but yet the most
exciting and leadership challenging one!
For the valued reader to appreciate the genesis of the
conception of the ongoing 2021 Ijesa Health Is Wealth Project, then the two
articles posted below is a must read.
“Without community
service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s important to the
person who serves as well as the recipient. It’s the way in which we ourselves
grow and develop.” – Dorothy Height
OWA OBOKUN ADIMULA CONSENTED TO BUILDING OF AN OVER 100 MILLION NAIRA
NEW PALACE FOR IJESALAND PARAMOUNT RULER IN ILESA.
The Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland Oba Gabriel Adekunle
Aromolaran has granted the request of some Illustrious sons and daughters of
Ijesaland to build a befitting palace for him by allocating a space for the
project within the palace square.
The Owa Obokun in a consent letter presented to the leader of
the palace project management team and
the initiator of the idea , Asiwaju
Olayinka Fasuyi, the Owa Obokun described the idea of the
volunteers as noble, urging them not to
be detracted by side talks nor discouraged by attitude of skeptics which he
said can be annoying.
Oba Adekunle Aromolaran advised the team not to give in to
pressure by anybody that might want to use
his influence to bid for the
contract or to lobby for supply
of materials to execute the same as he
has no interest in poke nosing into the affairs of the Project management team.
The Paramount ruler, while showing the location of the new
palace which will occupy a 20,000 square meter land to be sited to the PMT,
pleaded with the team to be time conscious saying procrastination is an enemy
of time.
Oba Adekunle Aromolaran expressed confidence in the ability
of the team to deliver to time going by their pedigree find it difficult to
cancel his gratitude while going through the architectural design for the
project which he described as palatial indeed.
Earlier, the initiator of the idea and leader of the team,
Asiwaju of Ilesa and Balogun of Ijebu-jesa, Chief Yinka Fasuyi had told the Owa
Obokun that he conceived the idea on the 14th of December last year, discussed
it with his Imperial Majesty before beaconing the 102 kind hearted ijesas sons
and daughters who have already keyed into lofty idea.
Asiwaju Fasuyi said a substantial amount of money have been
realized to start the project with a lot of grandeur in February this year and
handover the key to the Owa Obokun within the time frame of eight months.
He emphasized that Ijesa people are known for class and
elegance, hence the need to put up an edifice that suits the status of the
Paramount ruler and at the same time add to the grandeur to the Adimula palace
square.
He explained that the architectural drawings were undertaken
voluntarily by two firms namely Foyeh
Limited and Restorark Associates Limited while the Technical team consists
of other volunteers including, a structural engineer, Mr. Wole Erinfolami of
E-Chrito Consult and a quality surveyor, Mr. Jide Kolawole of Kintrass Associates Consult, an
Electrical Engineer, Mr Anu Egbedayo, a
mechanical Engineer , Mr. Dipo Ladapo and Engineer Bola Olowe.
The Project Management Team members are:
• Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi,
• Chief Akinwande Akinola,
• Barrister Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo,
• Chief Afolabi Igbaroola,
• Elder BiyiLowo
• Mr. Busayo Aluko.
Highlight of the event included the presentation of a brief
on the proposed Palace project to the Owa Obokun Adimula .
According to the brief, the proposed multi-million naira
palace is expected to have the following:
1. Living Halls/Rooms with the following
different capacities, namely: 50,25 and 10 .
2. 5 Bed private living area, with a kitchen,
living room and other spaces that may be required
3. Private office
4. Library
5. Courtyard
6. Reception
7 . Store
8. Car park

.It's happy new
year my brother. I wish you all the best in 2020.
Now to the above,
are we doing the best for our people with this grandiose project that will
benefit only one of us, even if he is the Paramount leader of our land.
Is this what we
the blessed elites can come up with, in the sea of options that could bring
succour to our people?
You intend to take
out 100,000,000 naira from the pockets of all Ijeshas and then bury it on a
project that has no multiplier effect economically?
The above post
states that your good self personally thought of this project about one month
ago. So, the idea is being rushed, precluding any public celebration and
consideration on merit.
Is this right? Is
this fair to the masses of people in our society?
Are there no
competing possibilities that will be of benefit to a greater number of our
people?

Dr Akin
Fapohunda
19th January, 2020
The first article dated 18th January 2020 was the news
coverage from the visit of the Project Management Team of Owa's Palace Project
to the Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty to publicly get his nod for the Project
and also secure the land allocation for the Project from Kabiyesi.
The second article by a notable Ijesa Compatriot, Dr Akin
Fapohunda was written to to Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi on the 19th January, 2020, a day
after the first article went viral.
Our dear Compatriot, Dr Akin Fapohunda perceived quite
inaccurately by all standards the need for the construction of a New Palace for
Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, and spending a 'whopping'
sum of N100M (based on initial architectural design budget proposal) which was
later achieved at 295M as undesirable and not well thought out. Meanwhile, the
Owa's Palace Project was yet to commence yet there were disturbing distractions
like the one coming from Dr Akin Fapohunda. But then, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi
quickly remembered the prophetic advice given by His Imperial Majesty to the
Team which was captured in the news thus '..do not be distracted by side talks
nor discouraged by attitude of skeptics which can be annoying..'This advice
became handy to Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi. Rather than join issues with Dr Akin
Fapohunda, he decided to put on his long Thinking Cap again.
In addition, rather than designating the entire message from
Dr Akin Fapohunda as NONSENSE, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi decided to refine the
message by deleting the first three letters from the nonsense and to retain and
work with the remaining word 'SENSE'. What Dr Akin Fapohunda would have loved
Ijesas to spend the palace money on are mass-oriented projects as against his
definitely erroneously defined 'One Person' Project.
Afterwards when Asiwaju with the immense support of eminent
Ijesa sons and daughters, had delivered the New Owa's Palace his immediate
assignment from His Imperial Majesty what he had always knew was germane was a
mass benefiting Project that would have mass appeal in terms of impact and
benefits to the large majority of people in Ijesaland.
By the end of September 2020, Asiwaju had decided that a
Health Project would be most beneficial to the people. More so taking into
consideration the ravaging impact of COVID-19 pandemic that was yet to abate.
The first time Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi disclosed this Project to anyone was when
he visited His Imperial Majesty to formally brief him of the New Palace
Commissioning date and arrangements on Saturday, 12th December 2020.
It was at this meeting with His Imperial Majesty that Asiwaju
disclosed to him that now that the New Palace was being delivered that he would
love to shift to a new Project with mass appeal.
His Imperial Majesty then asked Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi the
Project he had in mind and Asiwaju shared his passion for 'Ijesa Health Is
Wealth Project'. Immediately, Kabiyesi keyed into the suggestion and gave his
consent for Asiwaju to go ahead.
On Thursday, 10th December 2020, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi formally
introduced and announced the birth of '2021 Ijesa Health Is Wealth Project' to
Ijesaland through the Owa's Palace Project WhatsApp platform. Please kindly
find below the message announcing the birth of the Project:
2021 IJESA HEALTH IS WEALTH PROJECT
I am very reluctant to write this piece for a number of
reasons, but the compelling situation at hand necessitates this.
One, we are all
just recuperating from the financial stress of participating in '2020 Owa's Palace Project'. Thinking of a
new agenda may be considered insensitive by many, to which they would be very
right.
Two, the monumental
challenge facing the entire world today in the area of health issues, disease,
pandemic, and Medicare are too glaring to ignore.
Three, the growing
urbanization of our 12 LGAs/LCDAs in Ijesaland requires commensurate response
in terms of infrastructure.
Four, the realization
that the greatest and most precious resource to protect and preserve in life is
the Human Capital.
Five, the belief
that the true worth of our exposure, education, contemporary development and
cultural value is measured in terms of infrastructural and social independence.
Six, is the reality
that governments alone cannot provide all that we require to sustainably make
life meaningful for our people in Ijesaland hence, the need for all of us to
come to our collective aid.
Seven, where lies
our pride as successful professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, and
enterprising Ijesa Sons and Daughters if whenever we visit our homeland from
Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt and the rest and there are health issues,
and the nearest place we are rushed to is Ile-Ife or Osogbo or Ibadan?
Today, the truth of the matter is that as urbane and widely
exposed as we are in Ijesaland, majority of our people still depend on Ile-Ife
Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital for our medical care. Many of our people are
regularly rushed to its Special Amenities Ward for treatment.
Our own heritage at the Wesley Guild Hospital, a unit of the
same Obafemi Awolowo lacks this crucial facility in the 21st Century.
We must salute the vision and contributions of some Ijesas
such as the Sarumi, Mrs Yinka Obaleye, Prof Debo Adeyemi, and Prof Isaac
Folorunso Adewole who have contributed immensely into the infrastructural
development of the hospital.
A gigantic Theatre Complex, facilitated by Prof Isaac
Folorunso Adewole is under construction which is hoped to be completed in 2021.
In spite of all these developments, there is still the lack
of Special Amenities Ward where specialized medical services could be rendered
in a business-oriented fashion for its sustainability, as it is available in
all Standard Teaching Hospitals across the globe.
I am convinced that if we seize advantage of the current
momentum, we can once again collectively fill this critical gap in Wesley Guild
Hospital, Ilesa for the overall benefit of all Ijesas.
In an attempt to examine the feasibility of this Project in
Wesley Guild Hospital branch of the Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, I have
had a one on one consultation with the following medical guru of Ijesa extract,
namely, a former Minister of Health, Prof Debo Adeyemi; immediate past Minister
of Health, Prof Isaac Folorunso Adewole; former Chief Medical Director of UCH
and current Chairman of all Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria, Prof Biodun
Ilesanmi; incumbent Chief Medical Director of UCH, Prof Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo;
and current CMD of Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, Prof Adebayo Adetiloye.
As a demonstration of their respective enthusiasm in the
Project, we are being assured of leveraging on their global networks to attract
equipment support.
The consensus opinion of all these global medical
practitioners is that we should have had it since yesterday, just to underscore
the importance of this critical facility in our land.
The CMD of Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital went a step
further to arrange a visit to the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa where he
conducted the Team of Ijesas round the hospital and showed us alternative
proposed sites for the Special Amenities Ward whenever Ijesas decide to act.
SPECIAL AMENITIES WARD OPERATIONS
The take away lesson learnt in the course of consultation is
that for a successful and sustainable operation of this Private Ward, it would
have to be operated in a business-like system. And that they would be willing
to share with us the alternative models for us to pick from when the structure
is getting ready.
EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
One area where our illustrious Sons and Daughters in the
diaspora could support this Project Is in the area of sourcing and donating
most of the key equipment to this Special Amenities Ward as part of their
contribution.
Further support would also come in form of providing a year
round medical outreach whereby specialised medical professionals from different
medical fields would be visiting regularly to attend to patients and also
provide hands-on training to the local medical personnel.
In realisation of this objective, I had a discussion with the
National Chairman of Egbe Omo Obokun in North America and Canada, Dr Busayo Awe
who is enthused about the Project and gave assurance of his willingness to
mobilise all Ijesas in the United States of America and Canada towards
supporting this Project.
PROJECT COSTING
A 25-Suite Special Amenities Ward is being proposed within a
Structure fitted with all comfort amenities and conveniences.
Provisions would also be made for 24 hour power supply
through the installation of generating sets and inverter/solar systems.
A Building Structure with all relevant amenities is
projected to cost ₦100M
A provisional amount of ₦50M
is projected for Equipment and Tools.
Total Budget Estimates of ₦150M is projected.
PROJECT FINANCING
Let me once again express our deep gratitude to all our
highly respected contributors to 2020 Owa's Palace Project.
Through your generous contributions, and our shrewd
management of your resources, we would be saving a minimum of ₦20M(Twenty
Million Naira) only, with which we intend to deploy as seed money in taking
off this Project, if we have your popular consent.
Thereafter, I would propose we maintain our individual
donation of ₦1M
(One Million Naira) each. I am
trusting Almighty God to mightily bless all of us in the new year to achieve
this, IJMN.
PROJECT TAKE-OFF
The moment we have the popular consent of this honoured
house, we intend to reach out to Project Consultants who would be willing to
offer pro bono services and support as a way of minimizing costs.
After auditing the Palace Project account and the report
shared among all stakeholders, we would then be transiting to the new project,
named '2021 IJESA HEALTH IS WEALTH PROJECT'
I am sincerely counting on your support as usual in joining
hands together to deliver on this noble Project that has potential to benefit
all Ijesas.
Who knows the prospective beneficiaries of this Project among
us or our families and relatives? Only time would tell.
Let's pick the WILL to do this for our own land. God bless us
all.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi
Chairman,
Project Management
Team 2020 Owa's Palace Project 10th December, 2020.
On Wednesday, 16th of December, 2020, Asiwaju led a team
comprising of Ijesa Leaders from both
PMT and PMEC namely, Chief Akin Akinola; MrIyiolaFaniyi;
Prince Lowo Adebiyi; Chief Afolabi Igbaroola to meet with the Obafemi Awolowo
University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) Management Team comprising of the Chief Medical
Director, Prof Adebayo Adetiloye; Director of Works, Arc(Mrs) Olowu for formal
briefing on the Health Is Wealth Project and jointly explored the site to be
allocated by OAUTH for the project.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi led
the Teams of PMT, PMEC, and PTAC of Ijesa Health Is Wealth Project to a meeting
on Partnership with the Board and Management of OAUTH Ile-Ife on 19th March
2021.
On the same Wednesday, 16th December 2020 a 3-Man
professionally powerful medical giants comprising of Prof Isaac
Adewole(Chairman); Prof Oyewusi Gureje; and Prof Abiodun Ilesanmi were
constituted and inaugurated into the Project Technical Advisory Committee
(PTAC) whose major term of reference was to recommend to the Project Management
Team the most appropriate area of Health Care for us to adopt under the Ijesa
Health Is Wealth Project. It was this Committee that eventually recommended
Geriatric Centre which is the thrust of Health Is Wealth Project.
Below is the inauguration address of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi on
the constitution of PTAC :
RE: 2021 IJESA HEALTH IS WEALTH PROJECT
Since last Thursday, 10th of December 2020 when the idea
about "2021 IJESA HEALTH IS WEALTH" was muted and proposed on this
floor, it has not only generated, expectedly an influx of sympathy,
endorsement, and widespread acceptance on this platform, but has also earned
similar support and backing from many other Ijesa-based platforms where the
concept was forwarded.
In between then and now, series of engagement and
consultations have been held with principal practitioners in the health sector,
focusing on defining our roadmap based on our health requirements in Ijesaland;
market needs analysis; health personnel sourcing and placement; operational
feasibility; equipment sourcing; government political support; technical
feasibility; sustainability feasibility; and important lessons from
contemporary experiences in the health industry.
The need for robust health intervention plan therefore
requires that we allow our healthcare specialists to provide and support us
with their respective technical expertise, from the supply end.
While the majority of us in the house can thereafter offer
our complimentary support and opinions from the demand end.
The outputs of this synergy could only be the best for the
healthcare yearnings of our people in Ijesaland. By then, all stakeholders in
the new project would be satisfied that all necessary measures, precautions,
and attendant risks would have been carefully and thoroughly identified for
mitigation.
In advancing forward along this prescribed course has
necessitated and informed the need to start with the first right step upon which
subsequent steps would be built.
The consensus of opinions from the wide consultations
suggests the establishment of a TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC) whose
responsibility would be to examine the various spheres of health technical
issues and feasibilities as enumerated earlier.
The outputs from this Committee would thereafter serve as
inputs for the workings of the Project Management Team, and Project Monitoring
& Evaluation Committee. This 3-tier operational structure would guarantee
that all shades of opinion are properly captured and weighed before finally
presenting same to the house for plenary endorsement.
I am delighted to report that three of our distinguished
medical experts in the house namely, the immediate past Minister of Health,
Prof Isaac Folorunso Adewole, incumbent Chairman, All Teaching Hospitals in
Nigeria, Prof Biodun Ilesanmi, and the most medical research cited Professor in
Africa, Prof Oye Gureje have accepted to serve in this project's TECHNICAL
ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC), with Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole as Chair.
We certainly owe these our seasoned and tested egg heads debt
of gratitude for their respective willingness to serve the noble cause of
Ijesaland.
The TAC Terms of Reference (ToR) shall include but not
limited to the following:
1. Examine the medical services available at
the Wesley Guild Hospital(WGH), Ilesa
2. Identify required medical services that are
not available at WGH 3. Identify high frequent diseases reported and referred
outside WGH.
4. Examine the Quantity and Quality of Medical
Infrastructure available at WGH
5. Examine the Adequacy or otherwise of
qualified medical and auxiliary personnel in WGH and its immediate
environment
6. Identify the most beneficial and appropriate
medical intervention desirable for Ijesaland in WGH
7. Propose Sustainable Operation and Management
Plan
8. Propose Equipment Acquisition Plan
9. Determine Strategies for Obtaining
Government Enabling Support
10. Determine Intervention Financial Costs
Estimates.
TAC would be free to co-opt members that could assist it to
deliver on its mandate.
A duration of four weeks is proposed for this phase of
assessment survey to be done and revert, with effect from Thursday, 17th
December 2020.
The outputs from this survey would provide the basic data
with which the Project Consultants such as the Architects, Structural Engineer,
Civil Engineer, Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, and Quantity Surveyor
would work with.
The remaining routine
process and procedures of advertising bids, bids tendering & evaluation,
Contractor's selection and engagement and eventual movement to site could be
targeted for end of March 2021.
Suggestions for improvement are heartily welcome.
Thanks and God bless!

Health Is Wealth Project:
We have
deliberately chosen the Geriatric Centre and recommended same for
implementation as it could touch millions of Nigerians within and outside our
state. There is a huge demand for services devoted to the care of the senior
citizens as the only facility currently serving us is the one in UCH. It also
has the capability to be self-sustaining. Our committee is prepared to
entertain comments and questions on our recommendation.

can reward you all for the time invested, knowledge shared and your financial
obligations.
We are on the move
again!
From
Mr. Adewale Idowu
31st January,
2021.
The success of the
2020 Palace Project is certainly enduring. It has reawakened the hallmark CAN
DOISM of Ijesa people.
Never before, in
history, had any group of people beaten
the Ijesa in conception of brilliant and lofty ideas.
The inherent
intellection bestowed on us is on the rise afresh! And never again should we
allow this spirit to recline.
The very concept
of setting up a medical facility is praiseworthy; nothing can be closer in the
hierarchy of human needs. Here again, we must all appreciate and support the
Asiwaju of our time, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, who God has imbued with this sterling
quality of seeking societal needs and making them possible.
And the choice of
the Project Technical Advisory Team cannot be better.
Chaired by
Professor Isaac Adewole, in tow with Prof. Abiodun Ilesanmi, Prof. OyeGuruje,
Prof. Lawrence Oginni, Prof. Victor Adetiloye, Prof. Oyelami and the military
medical practitioner, Col ( Dr) Akin Moses, no group of eggheads can be better.
Their professional
reputation is unassailable. Very fine and rare select!
As for the
decision of the Team to zero in on Geriatric Center, that choice is logical and
truly informed. Very wellfounded.
The music now
should be 'To the Work'.

enough and now the Lord has blessed our land with another giant step! Forward
ever, backward never. God Almighty will give us the energy, resources and the
wherewithal to accomplish this task. God bless our land and all our people.

encompassing. All hands must again be on deck to deliver this necessary and
beautiful initiative.

“We cannot seek
achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our
community… Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and
needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.” – Cesar Chavez
Upon completion of this laudable Project, which has reached
advanced stage within the five months of commencement, Ijesaland shall become
the new destination for medical tourism in Nigeria, courtesy of the initiative
of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi ably complemented by the unparalleled support and brag
worthy contributions of indefatigable Ijesa sons and daughters.
●If there is one Project that has been agitating the minds of
all Ijesas for more than 30 years, it is the desire to have a university sited
at Ilesa, the traditional, political, economic, spiritual, social, and cultural
headquarters of Ijesaland.
The battle to secure this has spanned several administrations
in Osun State, both military and civilian.
While some of our eminent leaders and Societies in Ijesaland
were pursuing the elevation of the 43year-old College of Education to a
University, others were synergizing towards establishment of private
universities.
On his assumption of office as Asiwaju, this issue of having
a University in Ilesa became more paramount in his heart.
Furthermore, Asiwaju is of the opinion that all Ijesa
stakeholders must come together to recognize and identify the low hanging
opportunity we have in pursuing the upgrade of the Osun State College of
Education, Ilesa to a University factoring the enormous infrastructural
facilities the College already possesses.
The next strategy Asiwaju had in mind was to seek most
appropriate opportunity to get the attention of the Executive Governor of Osun
State, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola and passionately plead a case for this
upgrade.
The first golden opportunity came in during the tripartite
meeting Asiwaju proposed to the Governor in resolving the IBEDC/Ijesaland
imbroglio held at the Governor's office on Wednesday, 10th April, 2019.
After rising from the meeting, Asiwaju quickly sought a
private audience with His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Mr.
Adegboyega Oyetola which the Governor obliged.
It was there and then, Asiwaju raised the issue of the most
pressing need of Ijesaland, the urgent need to passionately consider the
upgrade of the College to a University.
After a short pause, the Governor requested that Asiwaju
should bring the proposal in respect of this upgrade for the consideration of
the State Government.
Few minutes after my meeting with the Governor, Asiwaju
immediately sought audience with His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Mr.
Gboyega Alabi to seek his support for the proposal the
Governor had requested for. His Excellency, the Deputy Governor
instantly assured Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi that he would definitely lend his
support to the consideration of the proposal whenever it was brought.
Elated and excited Asiwaju immediately shared this
development with the College Provost and requested for a proposal to be
developed for the urgent appraisal of Ijesa Leaders but unfortunately this was
not delivered.
The second golden opportunity came when the Governor came for
the commissioning of the New Palace of Owa Obokun Adimula on Saturday, 26th December, 2020. The
Governor gave hint of his desire to contribute some money towards the completed
Palace. Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi then diplomatically pleaded with His Excellency
not to contribute to the Palace since it had been completed. And that His
Excellency would soon help Ijesaland with a Project that we would gladly and
appreciably welcome his financial gesture.
Asiwaju was however careful not to disclose the identity of the Project
until it was his turn to address the gathering.
Few minutes into the body of Asiwaju's address, he suddenly
sought the attention of the audience employing a strategic approach by
passionately pleading with His Excellency that all Ijesas at home and in the
diaspora were united in requesting for the upgrade of the State College to a
University.
The high point was when Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi requested that
those in the audience who support the demandfor the upgrade to stand up for the
Governor to appreciate the high number of persons agitating for the
upgrade.
The entire gathering did not just stand but rather everyone
starting with His Imperial Majesty, Oloris, all the Traditional Rulers in
Ijesaland, all the Chiefs, all the distinguished Ijesa personalities, JUMPED UP
and refused to sit until the Governor acknowledged their support for the
request.
In His Excellency’s address and response to the request
placed on him on the College upgrade to a University, the Governor remarked
thus "Mo tigbo ebe Ijesa Ijesa l'ori
ibere University, sugbon mi o tigba". Most importantly, the Governor
left the New Palace opening ceremony with a clear, firm, and unambiguous
understanding of the primary and most desirous need of the people of
Ijesaland.
After waiting for three months, till the end of March 2021
and there was no news forthcoming from the State Government on this College
upgrade to a University, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi put on his long Thinking Cap
againto work out strategies to mount pressure on the Governor and the State
Government.
From Thursday, 1st of April 2021, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi commenced
mass consultations with other leaders, Societies, Clubs, and Associations in
Ijesaland with a view to mobilise and galvanise everyone to speak with one
voice on this long-awaited desire.
As Asiwaju was busy with the one-on-one consultations, he was
at the same time drawing the list of other Ijesa leaders to be invited to
constitute the driving body, University Project Consultative Committee for the
realisation of Ilesa University Project.
In the process and at the first instance Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi
invited eleven other leaders to join him in this crusade, namely, Chief Akin
Akinola; Prof Isaac Adewole; Prof Rotimi Tayo; Alh. Lateef Bakare; Hon. Gbenga
Onigbogi; Engr Yemi Oguntominiyi; Sir Ademola Aladekomo; Chief (Mrs) Dupe Ajayi
Gbadebo; Mr. Supo Shadiya; Babatunde Aiku,SAN; and Mr. Niran Olayinka.
On Sunday, 18th April, 2021 Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi unveiled the
12-Man University Project Consultative Committee (UPCC).
Earlier on the same day, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi had shared the proposed Executive list
within the UPCC with Prof Isaac Adewole. Prof Isaac Adewole thereafter offered
an advice that we make Chief Akin Akinola the Chairman of UPCC, the advice to
which Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi conceded.
Immediately thereafter, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi created the UPCC
platform with a title ILESA UNIVERSITY PROJECT where members' names and their
respective short profile were listed.

●LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE!
“The purpose of
life is not to be happy, but to matter – to be productive, to be useful, to
have it make some difference that you have lived at all.” – Leo Rosten
The journey of the last five years as the First Asiwaju of
Ijesaland has been quite educative, revealing, and inspiring.
One of the greatest lessons learned in the last five years is
the joy of knowing that Ijesas are truly desirous of life-impactful development
and also willing to sacrifice their respective hard-earned resources to achieve
life-impactful development without necessarily waiting for government.
Provided their hard-earned resources are prudently,
judiciously and transparently applied.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi has succeeded in embracing, employing,
and deploying Leadership by example in all the Development Projects he has both
initiated and championed in the last five years, and this attribute has in turn
won him committed and loyal supporters.

He has sacrificed his financial resources and provided
leadership in contribution; he has subjected his leadership of Projects to
checks and vetting from other oversight bodies he voluntarily created; he has
submitted himself to superior suggestions and advice; he has devoted 25 hours
out of 24 hours in a day to manage smooth operations of the Projects; he has
networked the illustrious and eminent Ijesa Sons and Daughters to relate more
than ever together under one common platform; he has demonstrated transparency
to a fault; he has judiciously accounted for every Kobo entrusted to his
leadership; he has been a Team Player; and more importantly, he has implicit
trust in Almighty God for the journey thus far and for the journey beyond.
“I suppose leadership
at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.” –
Mahatma Gandhi
Asiwaju continually offers his profound gratitude and
appreciation to His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran
II,CFR, LL D the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland for the
opportunity given through the installation as Asiwaju, to serve Ijesaland.
The debt of gratitude to all cherished, esteemed, valued, and
illustrious Ijesa Compatriots both at home and in the diaspora for their
wonderful and incredible support to Ijesaland and Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi in the
last five years cannot be overemphasized.
His dear heartthrob, Yeye Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Dr Olubisi
Fasuyi was also saluted for her amazing solidarity in the pursuit and discharge
of the responsibilities of the office of Asiwaju of Ijesaland.
