Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, has endorsed the proposed Ijesaland Development Fund as initiator. The Ijesaland Community Development Assembly supported trainees of the Leventis Foundation Agricultural School with about 9 million naira in grants.
Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup gave the endorsement when the chairman of the ICDA, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, led members on a courtesy visit to him.
The Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland expressed delight with the interventions of the ICDA in all the sectors, which, according to him, were in tandem with the dreams of the Ijesa progenitors.
He urged all the people who had been making generous donations towards the development of Ijesaland not to relent in their efforts.
Earlier, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland had told the Owa Obokun how a small number of Ijesa patriots had accomplished numerous development projects worth billions of naira, and why everyone of Ijesa descent should participate in the admirable group endeavour to rebuild Ijesaland according to her ancestors' vision.
Analysing the 10 levels of the contribution as indicated in the IDF modus operandi, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi maintained that all the Ijesas from the age of twenty-one years upwards and the non-indigenes who have benefitted from the land socioeconomically were qualified to contribute a maximum of 1 million Naira and a minimum of 1 thousand Naira annually towards achieving the objective.
He stated the contribution, which was scheduled for January 2026, would be beneficial to all six local government areas in Ijesaland.
According to the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, a committee of 10 to 11 members representing each ward in each of the 6 local government areas would be constituted to carry out a needs assessment study for each of the local councils in determining suitable projects for them.
On the grants, Asiwaju Fasuyi noted that the gestures were in fulfilment of the ICDA’s promise to give the trainees grants and assist them to access loans from the Bank of Industry and Agricultural Development Bank.
Recall that the Ijesaland Community Development Assembly midwifed the birth of the new Owa’s palace, the Ijesa Geriatric Centre, and the University of Ilesa, which championed the sponsorship of indigent students of the Federal School of Science and Technology Ilesa and trainees of the Leventis Foundation Agricultural School Ilesa.
